EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical or foam. water fog. |
|
SPECIAL FIREFIGHTING PROCEDURES: |
Keep unnecessary people away; isolate
hazard area and deny unecessary entry.
When using water spray, boil over may occur when the product
temperature reaches the boiling point of water (tank type scenarios, not
spills). Wear a positive pressure
self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective equipment. |

SECTION V- REACTIVITY DATA
(continued) |
|
INCOMPATIBILITY (MATERIALS TO
AVOID): Caustics, amines, strong
oxidizing agents. |
|
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION OR
BYPRODUCTS: Combustion may produce carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and
water. Unidentified organic compounds
may be formed during combustion. |
|
HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not
occur. |
|
SECTION VI- HEALTH HAZARD DATA |
NATURE
OF HAZARD:
|
EYES: |
May cause slight transient eye
irritation. Corneal injury is
unlikely. |
|
INGESTION: |
Single dose oral toxicity is low. The
oral LD50 for male and female rats is preater than 15,000 mg/kg. No hazards anticipated from swallowing
small amounts incidental to normal handling operations. |
|
SKIN CONTACT |
Essentially nonirritating to skin. |
|
INHALATION |
At room temperature, exposures to
vapors are unlikely due to physical properties; higher temperatures may
generate vapor levels sufficient to cause irritation. |
|
|
|
|
EMERGENCY
AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES: |
|
DIGESTION: No adverse effects anticipated by this
route of exposure incidential to proper industrial handling. |
|
INHALATION: Remove patient to fresh air. Get medical attention. |
|
SKIN
AND EYE CONTACT: |
|
EYES:
Immediately flush eyes with large amounts of water for at least 15
minutes. Hold eyelids apart to ensure
complete flushing. Do not attempt to
neutralize with chemical agents. Get
medical help immediately. |
|
SKIN:
Remove contaminated clothing and flush skin with water. Wash with soap and water until material has
been removed. Seek medical attention
if irritation exists. |
|
SECTION VII- PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE
HANDLING AND USE |
|
STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE LARGE
AMOUNT OF MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED:
Keep out of sewers, storm drains, surface waters and soil. Small spills: soak up with absorebt material
and scoop into drums. Large
spills: dike and pump into suitable
containers, clean up residue with absobent material and wash with water. |
|
WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: DO NOT DUMP INTO ANY SEWERS, ON THE
GROUND, OR INTO ANY BODY OF WATER. For
unused or uncontaminated material, the preferred management options are to send
to a licenced recycler, reclaimer, or incinerator. Dispose of in accordance with federal,
state, and local regulations regarding pollution. |
|
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING
AND STORING: Keep away from heat,
sparks, or open flame. |
|
OTHER PRECAUTIONS: NA. |

SECTION VIII- CONTROL MEASURES |
|
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Atmospheric levels should be maintained
below the exposure guideline. For most
conditions, no respiratory protection should be needed; however, if handling
at elevated temperatures without sufficient ventilation, use approved
air-purifying respiratory. |
|
VENTILATION: Provide adequate ventilation to keep vapors
below allowable exposure levels. |
|
PROTECTIVE GLOVES: For prolonged or repeated contact, wear
gloves which are recommended by glove supplier for protection against
materials in Section II. |
|
EYE PROTECTION: Recommend safety glasses with unperforated
sideshields. |
|
OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHING OR
EQUIPMENT: Long sleeves and long pants. |
