EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:  Dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide.                      *VOC CONTENT:  98%

SPECIAL FIREFIGHTING PROCEDURES:  If potential for exposure to vapors or products of combustion exist, wear complete personal protection equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus with full face shield operated in positive pressure mode.  Thermal decomposition of this product is toxic. Water spray can be used to reduce intensity of flames, dilute spills, and keep containers cool.

UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS:  Vapor is heavier than air and can travel long distances.  May decompose during contact with flames, heating elements or in combustion engines releasing irritating toxic and corrosive gases.  Container may explode if heated due to resulting pressure.

SECTION V- REACTIVITY DATA

STABILITY:  Stable

INCOMPATIBILITY (MATERIALS TO AVOID):  Strong oxidizers, aluminum, acetaldehyde, chlorine, ethylene oxide, hydrogen palladium combination, hydrogen peroxide, sulfuric acid combination, hypochlorous acid, isocyanates, nitroform, phosgene, oleum, perchloric acid, potassium t-butoxide, acids, alkalis, amines, halogens, anhydride, and aldehydes.  May liberate carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide.

HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION:  Will not occur.

SECTION VI- HEALTH HAZARD DATA

EFFECTS OF OVER-EXPOSURE:

EYES:

May cause severe irritation, burning sensation and blurred vision.

SKIN:

Brief contact may dry the skin or cause burning or stinging sensation.  Prolonged contact may irritate the skin causing dermatitis.

INGESTION:

Swallowing large quantities causes nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhea and perhaps unconsciousness or death.

INHALATION:

Vapor causes irritation of nasal passages and throat.  May cause headaches, vomiting, and coma.  Can cause pulmonary edema (accumulation of fluid in the lungs).  Signs may be delayed for several hours.  High concentrations can cause dizziness, incoordination and anesthesia which are usually reversible.

CHRONIC EFFECTS

OF EXPOSURE:

Chronic effects of exposure include prolonged or repeated exposure to high concentrations can produce severe or fatan CNS depression.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE:  Persons with pre-existing skin disorders, eye problems or impaired respiratory function may be susceptible to the effects of this substance.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

SKIN AND EYE CONTACT:

EYES:  Immediately flush eyes with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes.  Hold eyelids apart to ensure complete flushing.  If irritation persists, get medical help immediately.

SKIN:   Immediately remove contaminated clothing.  Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water for at least 15 minutes.  Be sure to launder clothing before wearing.  If irritation persists, seek physician’s advice at once.

INHALATION:  Move patient to area of fresh air.  If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration then oxygen if needed.  Contact physician immediately.

INGESTION:  Unlikely as an aerosol.  If conscious, INDUCE VOMITING IMMEDIATELY by giving two glasses of water and sticking a finger down the throat.  Get immediate medical attention.  Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person.

SECTION VII- PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE

STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED:  Eliminate all sources of ingition.  Wear protected equipment including rubber boots, rubber gloves, rubber apron and self-contained breathing apparatus and eyewear with splash guards.  Ventilate area where heavy vapor may collect.  Comply with federal, state, and local regulations on reporting releases.

WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD:  All notification, cleanup and disposal should be carried out in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.  For large spills, contain by diking with soil or approved waste containers or absorb with non-combustible sorbent material.  Place residue in DOT-approved waste containers.  Keep out of sewers, storm drain, surface waters, and soil.

SECTION VIII- HANDLING & STORAGE PRECAUTIONS

Store in tightly sealed containers.  Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame.  Do not get in eyes on skin or clothing. Do not breathe vapor, mist or gas.  Do not store or transfer to an unmarked container.  Do not throw empty containers in trash compactor.  Do not store in direct sun.  Store containers below 120°F.  Read label before using.  Empty containers may contain hazardous residue.

SECTION VIII- PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE (continued)

Do not drop, reuse or refill container.  Do not smoke around this product.  Do not cut, grind or weld on or near container due to possible fume generation or flame occurance.

SECTION IX- SPECIAL PROTECTION

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:  Supplied air; scuba in case of release or fire, adequately ventilated areas or NISH/MSH approved respirator.

VENTILATION:  Use with adequate ventilation.  Check air for contamination and for oxygen deficiency.  Where ventilation is inadequate, use a local exhaust system to remove vapors.

PROTECTIVE GLOVES:   Lined non-permeable rubber gloves.

OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT:  Splash goggles with shields.

WORK/HYGIENIC PRACTICES:  Non-permeable clothing to protect skin from liquid contact.
